On Sunday 18 October 2015, by popular demand, the GDHS held another guided walk of the historic Gerringong Cemetery at the East end of Belinda Street, Gerringong. Two members of GDHS, together with local descendants of early families, provided talks at different areas of the Cemetery.
75 people attended and comments ranged from excellent to when are you going to do this again?

10. 29th November 2015 Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Waratah March
The GDHS working in conjunction with the Gerringong RSL commemorated
the Waratah March of 1915. We have been helping identify some of the names
on the Honour Boards at the RSL Hall, of men who enlisted from Gerringong.
The boards only show initials of the enlisted men. The 1915 March was carried
out from Nowra to Sydney, recruiting soldiers in the towns along the way.
The men stayed the night in the Gerringong School of Arts building, where they
were fed, and then entertained with a concert and dance. The next day they went
on to Kiama, Jamberoo, Albion Park, Dapto and eventually all the way to Sydney.
Ithad been hoped to re-enact the March in 2015, up the highway, but the traffic is much
different today from 1915.
What happened was that participants caught the train from Bomaderry (Nowra)
to Gerringong and then marched up to the old School of Arts building, before receiving
refreshments in the RSL Hall. They then caught the train back to Bomadery (Nowra).
