The Gerringong & District  Museum is closed temporarily, as from November 2017, for approximately 36

months. The adjacent School of Arts building is to be restored and will then be the new home of the Museum. The existing Museum building is to be demolished and replaced with a Library complex.(See page on Gerringong Library). The complete plans for the new complex can be viewed by application to GDHS.

The Historical Society has sourced temporary storage for its artifacts until the new complex is completed in approximately early 2021. This change in date is due mainly to the COVID-19 pandemic and delays in the building project.

The Society is continuing to hold monthly meetings in the RSL Hall, corner of Fern Street and Belinda Street. This temporary accommodation is provided with the kind invitation of  the Gerringong RSL Branch.

Unfortunately with having no permanent premises to display the Museum's contents we will be unable to host any visiting groups after October 2017 until hopefully mid to late 2021. The Society regrets this inconvenience to groups and the general public. We strongly urge the public to visit the Museum before it closes, to view its contents in their current location, because when the move takes place the displays will be in a different configuration due to a smaller footprint.

The existing Museum building has been relocated to a site adjacent to The Mens Shed for temporary storage of our artifacts then for their use.

The Gerringong & District Historical Society Inc., although looking forward to the move, realises the great inconvenience the move causes and hopes that the public will continue to support us in our endeavours to maintain the history of Gerringong & District for future generations.
