Gerringong and District Historical Society is an incorporated association that was established in 1981. The GDHS mission is to collect, preserve, research and exhibit items that will enable the illustration and recording of the history of people, buildings and events in the Gerringong District. We are honoured to have as our patron, Sandra McCarthy, OAM.
The current district boundaries of the Gerringong area range from Mount Pleasant and Omega in the north, to Rose Valley, Willow Vale and Foxground in the west and to Broughton Village, Toolijooa, Harley Hill, Gerroa and Seven Mile Beach in the south. GDHS meets on the fourth Saturday of each month at 1pm in the meeting room at GLaM.
Visitors and new members are welcome. GDHS manages the exhibition space in the Museum and runs a series of Nights at the Museum with guest speakers that explore the history and culture of the district.
BECOME A MEMBER
Meetings are held on the fourth Saturday of each month at 1.00pm at the GLaM meeting room with refreshments afterwards. Visitors and new members are most welcome.
The museum relies on the help of volunteers to fill various positions in our programs. These include:

Guides who can take visitors through our exhibition space

Help in the acquisition of donations and recording of the collection

Volunteers to help maintain and conserve the collection or prepare for an exhibition

Help in catering for events
-
People to help move exhibits between the storage facility and the exhibition space

Researchers, graphic designers, photographers & archivists
If you enjoy people, learning new skills and learning more about local history, being a member and volunteer is a great way to contribute to the museum and the community.​
